With The 5th Graders
Hot and Cold Sea Currents
The Vendée Globe prompts us to question ourselves on various, sometimes unexpected, subjects. We wondered about the speed of the sailboats and the currents. We recreated a sea current by confronting cold water (coming from the poles), illustrated by the color blue, and hot water (at the equator), illustrated by the color red. Students were asked to respect the scientific process by submitting a hypothesis, drawing observations, writing down the observed results, and finally writing a conclusion.
