les petits poissons celebrate carnival

Let’s celebrate !

CONFETTI, POPCORN, FACE PAINTING… Anything goes!!! Let’s celebrate CARNAVAL with the “Poissons” class!

What is the Carnaval?

It’s a traditional French celebration that takes place between Epiphany and Ash Wednesday. The term MARDI GRAS refers to the practice of eating fatty food the day before lent.

Let’s get ready for the parade!!!

Our week in petits class started off with different activities. In art we decorated hats with paint and sparkles and to add some fine motors skills we traced our names on them. We read some books related to the theme “t’choupi se deguise” and “Mon chapeau”. We learned a French song, « j’ai un gros nez rouge, deux traits sous les yeux… ».

On Friday, our day started with some face painting; some kids choose to have a clown face, others a cat face… Ding Dong! at 11h20, “the poissons” kids were ready for the parade with their whistles and confetti boxes. The grands and moyens classes passed by our class with music and instruments and we all went to the gym to celebrate with music, dancing and confetti throwing!!!  After the dance party, we ended our day with some popcorn and marshmallows, where the kids watched how corn kernels turn into popcorn inside the popcorn machine.
