The Bees (K) Celebrated the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

This week, the Bees celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with Eva's dad.

They learned about this traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. The students asked a lot of questions. Mike showed them the Mooncakes that we traditionally eat when we celebrate. He told them the legend of Chang'e, the Moon goddess in Chinese mythology. They watched a video of the book Thanking the moon by Grace Lin.

Then they made lanterns. The children worked carefully to decorate and build their beautiful lantern. The kids were very proud of their work. They brougth the lanterns home at the end of the day—the colored pictures of the Mooncakes and characters from the Moon story on which the festival is based.
