Learning about the admission process and applying to independent schools is usually a new experience for families. At FISW, we will make every effort to assist you each step of the way.
Visit the School
The admission process begins with parents visiting the school. Families have two ways to visit – attend an open house or tour the school.
At an Open House, parents have the opportunity to not only visit the school, but to speak with teachers, parents and alumni. The Head of School conducts a short presentation on the curriculum and philosophy of the school. Open Houses are held after school hours, usually one in the evening and one on a Saturday afternoon.
During a tour, parents have the opportunity to tour the facility, see classes in action and learn about the curriculum. Tours will be scheduled on Tuesday mornings. To schedule, please call us at 425.653.3970.
Apply to the School
Once you know you are interested in attending our school, fill out an application. Applications are accepted at any time. The typical admission season starts in the fall, with application decisions made by mid-March. To ensure your spot for the next school year, it is best to apply by mid-February. Applications will continue to be accepted throughout the year; however, some classes may be full after the initial decisions are made.
Applications are available online and in paper form. Online applications require families to create an account. This account allows you to track your application as it goes through the admission process.
Please note that we charge a non-refundable, $95 application fee.
Parent and Child Interview
Once an application is received, we will call you to schedule an interview for parents and child. Usually, these interviews take place in late January, February or early March. It is an informal evaluation, no formal exams are required. For upper elementary, students will take a written and verbal evaluation.
Once you have completed the admission process, we will mail you our admission decision. If you have been accepted, you will be mailed a contract for the following school year. For the 2013-2014 school year, admission decisions will be mailed on March 14, along with all other PNAIS accredited schools. If you apply after that date, admission decisions will follow in a timely manner.

Once you receive your contract, complete it and return it to the school along with your enrollment deposit. You are officially enrolled in the school once we have received this paperwork and deposit from you. The deposit is non-refundable, and will be applied to the last month of tuition (June).
